Mt. Hood is bathed in the warm rays of sunset while colorful lupines and asters glow in an alpine meadow along the Timberline Trail in the Mt. Hood Wilderness.  The gnarled and stunted trees attest to the ferocity of weather at timberline on the slopes of Mt. Hood.  This is the same location of my last post, “Western Cascades Sunset”.  We are looking into the upper reaches of the Zigzag Canyon and river draining off of Zigzag Glacier high up on Mt. Hood.  While I have not yet hiked to the best location on the mountain for wildflowers at Paradise Park, the lupine and asters here were quite lovely.  Hopefully I will be in shape for that trek next season.  As many of you know I am continuing on my journey of recovery from way too many gallons of chemo infused into my veins.  But that is in the past and this hike was fantastic therapy for me.
